RED BANK — In May, participating restaurants in Little Silver and Rumson will be joining together with residents for a day to help Lunch Break fight hunger.
Supporters of Lunch Break, Red Bank soup kitchen, food pantry and more, can dine in or take out from their favorite local establishments with a portion of the proceeds going directly to Lunch Break.
Lunch Break encourages everyone to “Eat Out to Help Out” on Thursday, May 16, in Little Silver and on Tuesday, May 24, in Rumson.
On Wednesday, May 18, Lunch Break’s friends at Chili’s Grill and Bar, 2105 State Route 35, Holmdel, will be hosting their own benefit for Lunch Break from 4 until 11 p.m.
Lunch Break is a not-for-profit soup kitchen and food/clothing pantry that for the past 28 years has been providing hot meals and clothing six days a week for those in need. In 2010, they served over 39,000 free meals and additionally provided grocery baskets to more than 200 families per month. These numbers are expected to increase in 2011 and Lunch Break will be challenged to meet the demand.
