N.J. is first to require ski helmets for minors

The Brain Injury Association of New Jersey applauds Gov. Chris Christie and the state Legislature for creating a law that requires anyone younger than 18 years old to wear a properly fitted helmet while downhill skiing or snowboarding.

This law, which will be in effect for the 2011-2012 ski season, makes New Jersey the first state in the nation to require helmets for minors while skiing or snowboarding.

The Brain Injury Association of New Jersey would like to applaud all sponsors of this bill — Sens. Anthony Bucco and Joseph Pennacchio plus Assembly members L. Grace Spencer, Anthony Bucco, Scott Rumana, Herb Conaway, Valerie Vainieri Huttle, Jack Conners, Nancy Munoz, Connie Wagner, Tom Giblin, MatthewMilam and Mila Jasey. It is through their leadership that the lives of young skiers can be saved and brain injury may be prevented. Barbara Geiger-Parker President and CEO Brain Injury Association of N.J.
