Modern genocides will be examined

LAKEWOOD — Georgian Court University will explore modern-day genocides in “Living a Nightmare — Genocides in the 20th and 21st Centuries” in commemoration of Holocaust Awareness Week 2011 on May 2 at 6:30 p.m. in the Little Theatre on the Lakewood campus.

The multimedia presentation will feature readings from the diaries and remembrances of victims and their families, combined with video clips from films and news reports.

Included will be the reflections of Immaculée Ilibagiza, Dith Pran, Elie Weisel, Paul Rusesabagina, Anne Frank, and many more whose names are not as well known.

Holocaust Awareness Week continues with screenings of two powerful, awardwinning films, “The Killing Fields” on May 3, and “Hotel Rwanda” on May 4.

All Holocaust Awareness Week events will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the Little Theatre on Georgian Court’s Lakewood campus and are free and open to the public. Seating is limited, so reservations are required.
