Rider injured after falling off horse

MILLSTONE — A horseback rider sustained injuries after falling off his horse on April 20.

The Millstone Township Fire Department responded to the scene of the accident, a trail in the Monmouth County Park System about a half-mile off Stagecoach Road, at 3:32 p.m., according to the Millstone Township Fire Department.

Firefighters, under the direction of Lt. Michael Maloney, began treatment of the injured rider and prepared him for removal from the park. The department had to use its four-wheel-drive pickup truck to transport the rider to a Millstone Township First Aid Squad ambulance waiting near 42 Stagecoach

Road, according to the Millstone Township Fire Department.

The ambulance transported the rider to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton for treatment of his injuries. The New Jersey State Police also assisted at scene, according to the Millstone Township Fire Department.
