“Bamboo Shoots”, a new and exciting full day language immersion program in Mandarin will start in September 2011 at the Noah’s Ark Mountain Avenue facility in Westfield, NJ. The first of its kind in Union County, this Mandarin Preschool Program will offer a diversified full-day program for preschoolers ages 3-6.
These students will have the unique opportunity to acquire Mandarin in a supportive and nurturing environment, with a strong focus on high academic achievement and student leadership. Knowledge of Mandarin will give these children an advantage as they grow and prepare for life in a multicultural environment.
Young children can easily pick up a language and with China currently the second largest growing economy in the world, many schools throughout the US have initiated programs in this language. The “Bamboo Shoots” curriculum will use all the senses to maximize understanding and retention as well as providing a strong foundation in American and Chinese cultures for continued learning. The children will enjoy a rich and exiting environment with activity centers including art, science, music and writing.
Danielle Marino, owner/administrative director of Noah’s Ark facilities in
Westfield, has been involved in preschool education for nearly 15years. She has
researched bilingual education, especially the introduction of Mandarin at the preschool level. A curriculum was developed exclusively for “Bamboo Shoots” by an educator whose native language is Mandarin. This educator has a BA in Chinese with a Masters degree in Foreign Language concentrating in Early Childhood Education. The “Bamboo Shoots” Program will insure an academic oriented yet fun-filled curriculum that will focus on student involvement and curiosity.
Registration for this bilingual program is now being accepted, but space is limited. For further information on the program and to see the facility, you can call Noah’s Ark at 908.232.9550 or visit www.learnontheark.com.
