Seagulls won’t be the only ones flocking to the pier at the Belmar Marina on Sept. 24. Beer lovers will find their way there as well for the second annual Beer on the Pier event on the newly renovated marina pier.
Each person attending the craft beer and local restaurant celebration will receive a small tasting glass and a meal ticket to be redeemed at any of the seven restaurants setting up shop on the pier.
The event is organized by the Belmar Tourismoffice along with TotalBru Marketing, and the promoters see it as a way for locals to gather after a busy summer and enjoy a casual afternoon or evening on the newly renovated marina pier overlooking the Shark River.
Two local breweries, Kane Brewing in Ocean and Carton Brewing in Atlantic Highlands, will be making their debuts at the event.
The biggest change this year is the addition of a second session. The festival will have an afternoon session from noon to 3:30 p.m. and an evening session from 4:30 to 8 p.m. The VIP ticket is only available for the afternoon session and includes access to a specialty beer “bottle shop” where a variety of Belgian beers and small-batch craft beers can be sampled. Tickets are $42 for the general sessions and include a meal ticket.
There is a $1 trolley in Belmar that runs to and from Ocean Avenue for off-site parking. Boat owners can take advantage of one-day free dock-and-dine privileges at the marina.
Tickets are available at www.beerheads.com.
