JACKSON — On Sept. 24, Bartley Healthcare will be participating in the 2011 Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s and is currently inviting members of the community to help support the cause by walking with the Bartley team.
This will be Bartley’s 13th year of corporate sponsorship.
According to Bartley Healthcare Vice President of Community Relations Trish Mazejy, the Bartley team will include about 25 Bartley employees, family members and friends, all of whom are collecting pledges and donations for the Alzheimer’s Association. All Walk to End Alzheimer’s donations are tax deductible.
According to the Alzheimer’s Association, Alzheimer’s disease is a growing epidemic and is now the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death. As baby boomers age, the number of individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease will rapidly escalate, increasing well beyond today’s estimated 5.4 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s, according to a press release.
Currently, it is estimated that more than 350,000 New Jersey individuals and their care partners are struggling to cope with the devastating effects of Alzheimer’s disease.
“Since its inception, Bartley Healthcare has cared for many people with Alzheimer’s disease and it is determined to help reduce these statistics,” Mazejy said. “The Walk to EndAlzheimer’s is just one way we feel like we can make a difference. It’s a great opportunity for the community to make a difference, as well.”
