MILLSTONE— Local firefighters worked together to save pets and put out a house fire last week.
The Millstone Township Fire Department and Allentown’s Hope Fire Company responded to a residence at 33 Rues Road in Millstone at 2:39 p.m. Sept. 7 to find a fire in the kitchen area. The house was unoccupied at the time of the fire except for the family’s dogs, according to a press release from the Millstone Township Fire Department.
The dogs were found unharmed and were moved to safety. Millstone firefighters worked under the direction of Lt. Alan South and Hope Fire Company firefighters under the direction of firefighter George Luck, according to the press release.
Firefighters remained on location for approximately three hours. Fire companies from Plumsted Township, Groveville and Jackson Township also assisted at the scene. The Monmouth County Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating the incident, according to the press release.
