EATONTOWN — An Asbury Park man has been arrested and charged with the alleged stabbing of a 15-year-old victim in Wolcott Park on July 2.

According to a press release from the Eatontown Police Department, Tyjuan Browning, 19, has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an illegal purpose.

Browning was arrested for the alleged attempted murder on Sept. 9.

“Through multiple witness interviews and a lengthy police investigation, enough probable cause was established to sign a warrant against Mr. Browning,” the press release states.

Browning is being held at Monmouth County Correctional Institution, Freehold Township, in lieu of $250,000 bail.

Browning is the second alleged perpetrator in the July 2 stabbing.

On Aug. 6, police charged 20-year-old Deshawn Esdaile, of Asbury Park, with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon related to the incident.

“Esdaile had previously been arrested for his part in the incident at Wolcott Park,” the press release states.

“It is believed that Mr. Browning is the suspect who was in possession of the knife during the [alleged] stabbing in the park.”

In July, Eatontown police Detective Lt. Lawrence Tyler said the victim was stabbed 11 times in the head, neck and back with a folding buck knife that was later recovered at the scene.

The stabbing reportedly resulted from an argument between a group of juveniles, including the victim, and two 18- to 20- year-old individuals at a McDonald’s restaurant around 11 p.m. July 2, according to Tyler.

The individuals left in a silver fourdoor Honda but returned approximately 15 to 20 minutes later, along with a green minivan, he said.

Tyler said occupants of both vehicles got out of their vehicles and allegedly attacked the victim and another juvenile, who was punched in the side before running to the front of the McDonald’s to avoid the group.

According to police, the stabbing victim was punched in the head before four of the individuals chased him into Wolcott Park, off Lewis Street, where the stabbing occurred.

Tyler said that a third victim came forward a few days after the incident.
