Demolishing school would be wasteful

Maria F. Morse, Princeton
To the editor:
The plan to demolish the historic Valley Road School is wasteful. This is my personal perspective: I spent nine months editing my first documentary at Princeton Community TV, which is located inside the Valley Road School building.
My editing station was housed inside an old classroom (my mother Louse A. Morse’s first grade classroom) and was the perfect space for professional collaboration, and late night editing marathons. Later that year, I submitted the documentary to graduate schools, and was admitted to Stanford University’s documentary program. I couldn’t have accomplished this goal without the accessibility of the Valley Road School and the support of its nonprofit communities.
The Valley Road School is home to many nonprofits like PCTV and could serve even more community organizations and Princeton residents. The money saved from the demolition project could be invested into better non-profit infrastructure and accessibility at this historic and beautiful location. Thank you.
