Mr. Leonardis, 80, of Woodbridge, died Oct. 29, 2011, at Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center, Edison. Born in Newark, he had resided in Woodbridge for the past 49 years. He was employed as a longshoreman for Maher Terminals, Port Elizabeth, for 50 years before retiring in 2007. Mr. Leonardis was a U.S. Navy veteran who served during the Korean War. He was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Woodbridge. He was predeceased by his wife, Joan Kipila Leonardis, in 2007. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Marie Kish of Carteret and Lisa and Danny Petro of Woodbridge; a son and daughter-in-law, Angelo “Archie” and Heather Leonardis of the Port Reading section of Woodbridge; a brother, Carmen Leonardis of Jackson; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The funeral service was held at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, Woodbridge, followed by a Mass of Resurrection at St. James Church. Interment took place at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia section of Woodbridge.
