Arc of Monmouth receives United Way grant

TINTON FALLS — The Arc of Monmouth has for a second year been awarded an Income Impact Funding Grant of $20,000 from the United Way of Monmouth County. This grant is part of the United Way’s Community Impact model, designed to create lasting changes in Monmouth County.

TheArc of Monmouth’s Employment Services Department received approval for the program, which develops internships for individuals with disabilities. The goal of the internships is to prepare individuals for jobs within their communities. Upon completion of this program, with enhanced employment experience and skills, the individuals will receive assistance to transition to community employment, utilizing existing funding and supports from the Division of Developmental Disabilities and the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services.

The Arc of Monmouth will begin serving qualified individuals in December, according to the press release. Anyone interested in participating or finding out more about this program is asked to contact Thea Strong, director of employment services, at 732-866-0435.

The Arc of Monmouth serves more than 1,400 individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families through self-directed services, individual supports, promotion of self-advocacy, education, vocational training, residential services, health care, supported employment, recreation, and social services.
