Barbara Aras, of Little Silver, was reelected president of the New Jersey State First Aid Council (NJSFAC). Members of the NJSFAC elected the volunteer emergency medical services organization’s officers for 2012 at the annual meeting held in Atlantic City on Oct. 20-22.
Walter McKinley, of Keyport, an NJSFAC past president, was elected chaplain, filling a vacancy.
Installation of officers will take place during the group’s general membership meeting in January.
In addition toAras, all of the officers for 2011 were re-elected to their posts and will be installed at the January meeting.
Officers include:
Southern Area vice president, Bryan Platt, New Egypt; secretary, Barbara Platt, New Egypt; Central Area vice president, Joseph G. Walsh Jr., Neptune; Northern Area vice president, Cyndy Reardon, Bloomingdale; treasurer, Ken Weinberg, Pittstown; assistant treasurer, LeRoy Gunzelman, Somerville; membership secretary, Sue Meyer, Summit.
Established 82 years ago, the nonprofit NJSFAC represents more than 20,000 emergency medical services volunteers affiliated with 328 first aid and rescue squads throughout the state. In 2010, NJSFAC volunteers spent 3 million hours answering 355,000 calls, according to a press release from the council.
