Robert O. Wendel

Mr. Wendel, 92, of Marlboro, died Nov. 23, 2011, at home. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in the 123rd Naval Construction Battalion during World War II as a Seebee in Midway and the Philippines. Prior to retiring, he was a steamfitter/welder for Local 475 in Warren for many years. Mr. Wendel was predeceased by his wife, Jane Ann, in 2004. Surviving are four sons and two daughters-in-law, Thomas of Marlboro, Edward and Ruth of Point Pleasant, Peter of New Egypt, and Robert and Donna of St. Augustine, Fla.; six grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Gabriel’s Historic Church, Marlboro, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. Arrangements were by the Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold.
