POLICE BLOTTER: Week of March 2

Hightstown
   Just before 5 p.m. Feb. 12, on Rogers Avenue, officers arrested Jorge Valladares, 47, of Perth Amboy, New Jersey, and charged him with contempt of court. Officers of the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Department requested service of a warrant for the Mr. Valladares who was charged with non-compliance of child support in the amount of $4,000, according to police.
   Upon checking the residence, officers located Mr. Valladares and placed him into custody. Mr. Valladares was turned over to the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Department in lieu of bail.

   On March 9 at 9:10 a.m. officers arrested Erin Maioriello, 32, of Stockton Street, and charged her with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated in a school zone, reckless driving, driving while suspended, unregistered vehicle, uninsured motorist, unlicensed driver and contempt of court, police said.
   Police stated that she was stopped after a random license plate inquiry revealed a suspended license, unregistered vehicle, and a $350 warrant issued by East Windsor Township Municipal Court.
   Upon being stopped, police said, Ms. Maioriello exhibited behaviors consistent with being under the influence of an intoxicant and was found to be under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance.
   Ms. Maioriello was later released upon posting bail with pending court action.

   Police said officers arrested Ixchel Cordoba, 25, of Mercer Street, and charged her with contempt of court at 3:10 p.m. on Feb. 9.
   Ms. Cordoba was stopped on Mercer Street for having a brake light out and was found to have an active warrant in the amount of $478 issued by the East Windsor Township Municipal Court, according to police.
   Ms. Cordoba was taken into custody and later released upon posting bail.

   At 8 p.m. on Feb. 10, officers arrested Jesse Chabala, 31, of Dennis Court, and charged him with theft by deception, police said.
   Police stated that Mr. Chabala had taken checks from a relative, which were forged and cashed in the amount of $1,300.
   Bail was set at $1,000 with 10 percent and Mr. Chabala was released upon posting bail with pending court action.

   Police said officers arrested Melissa Thomas, 24, of Trenton, and charged her with contempt of court, suspended license, and for having a headlight out 11:16 p.m. Feb. 10. on Rogers Avenue.
   Ms. Thomas was stopped for the vehicle violation and was found to have a suspended license and an active warrant for $847 issued by Lawrence Township Municipal Court, police stated.
   Ms. Thomas was taken into custody and was released on her own recognizance with pending court action.

   Between 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Feb. 11, in the 100 block of Springcrest Drive, an unknown person or persons entered into a parked vehicle and removed a GPS system valued at $100, police said. The vehicle was unlocked at the time of the incident.

   At 7:42 p.m. Feb. 11 officers arrested Keith Lewkowitz, 34, of Rutherford, New Jersey, and charged him with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated in a school zone, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, careless driving, and being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance on Main Street, police stated.
   While on patrol, officers observed Mr. Lewkowitz traveling westbound on Franklin Street in the eastbound lane of travel, police said. He was stopped and found to be exhibiting behaviors consistent with being under the influence of an intoxicant. Mr. Lewkowitz was given field sobriety tests, which he failed, and was taken into custody, police stated.
   According to police, Mr. Lewkowitz was found to be under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance and was released upon being sober with pending court action.

   On North Main Street, officers arrested Diego Luna-Quizphe, 18, of the Orchards, East Windsor, and charged him with disorderly conduct and underage consumption of an alcoholic beverage at 6:41 p.m. Feb. 12.
   Officers responded on a complaint of a person attempting to enter a residence, through a window, in the 100 block of North Main Street, police said. Mr. Luna-Quizphe was located by the responding officers.
   He was taken into custody and released to a family member with pending court action.
East Windsor
   An officer observed a black Lincoln on Route 33, driven by Larry Cagen, 47, of New York, New York, operating in an erratic manner. After stopping the vehicle, police said an officer detected an odor of marijuana inside the vehicle, according to police.
   Investigation revealed three bags of marijuana inside the vehicle, as well as a digital scale, police said.
   Mr. Cagen was arrested and bail was set at $20,000. Mr. Cagen was charged with possession of marijuana Over 50 grams, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession with intent to distribute in a Drug Free School Zone. He was committed to the Mercer County Corrections Center in default of bail.

   Police said Richard Vaughn, 60, Plainfield, New Jersey, was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to maintain lane 12:25 a.m. Feb. 6 on Route 130.
   An officer observed a silver Toyota traveling northbound on Route 130 near Town Center Road in an erratic manner, police said. The vehicle was stopped and the driver, Mr. Vaughn, had an odor of an alcoholic beverage and bloodshot, watery eyes. He was given field sobriety tests and arrested for DWI.
   Mr. Vaughn was later released pending court action.

   Two teens, Alexander Houtenville, 19, of Piney Branch Road, and Trevor Kennedy, 19, of Old York Road, were arrested for drugs 12:35 p.m. on Feb. 7 at Route 130, according to police.
   An officer observed a brown Nissan traveling southbound on Route 130, near Dutch Neck Road, with a defective brake light. The vehicle was stopped and loose marijuana was observed inside the vehicle and odor of marijuana was detected, police said.
   Investigation revealed a marijuana pipe, a marijuana cigarette, and illegally owned prescription narcotics.
   The driver and a passenger were arrested. The charges included possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of prescription drugs, possession of drugs in a motor vehicle, defective brake light. They were later released pending court action.

   Midnight Feb. 5, Gregory Larson, 34, of Kensington Arms apartments, was charged with disorderly conduct. Police said officers responded to Kensington Arms apartments for a report of an intoxicated male lying on the ground. Mr. Larson was assisted inside his apartment. However, as officers were leaving, Mr. Larson left the apartment and began screaming obscenities while stating that he was going to kill someone, according to police.
   After his arrest, Mr. Larson was later released pending court action.

   A complainant reported that her vehicle was parked unlocked on Evanston Drive when it was entered into and a GPS unit worth $100 was stolen from it between 10 a.m. and just after noon Feb. 12, according to police.

   Sanal Stepkin, 46, of Manalapan, was charged with shoplifting at Walmart on Feb. 13 just after 3 p.m.
   Officers responded to Walmart for a report of a shoplifter in custody. Police said store personnel reported that the suspect, Mr. Stepkin, had been observed taking a laptop battery worth $69 and leaving the store without paying.
   He was arrested and later released pending court action.

   Aquib Ahmed, 20, of Heathwood Drive, was charged with possession of cocaine on Route 571 at 3:54 a.m. Feb. 15.
   According to police, an officer observed a suspicious vehicle, occupied by two men, parked in the parking lot of Game Stop. As the officer spoke with the occupants, he detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
   Investigation revealed that the passenger of the car, Mr. Ahmed, was in possession of a packet of cocaine, police said. He was arrested and later released pending court action.

   Eric Nah, 25, of Hamilton, was charged with obstructing justice on Route 130 at 4:20 a.m. Feb. 19.
   An officer observed a silver Nissan traveling west on Hickory Corner Road, near the Wawa store, in an erratic manner. The vehicle was stopped and the driver provided the officer with several fictitious versions of his personal information, stating that he could not find his driver’s license, police said.
   Additionally, several open beer bottles were observed within the vehicle, according to police. Investigation eventually revealed the driver’s true identity and the fact that his driver’s license was suspended and he had active warrants out of Hamilton Township.
   Mr. Nah was then arrested. In addition to the obstructing justice charge, Mr. Nah was charged with warrants, illegal u-turn, driving while suspended and open container of alcohol in motor vehicle. He was later turned over to Hamilton Township Police on its warrant.

   Police said a complainant reported that her two vehicles had been damaged while parked on Henderson Place sometime after 10 p.m. Feb. 17.
   According to police, the vehicles were scratched with a sharp object and there was a tire slashed. The damage was estimated at $500.

   At 1:34 p.m. on Feb. 21, officers responded to the Kreps Middle School for a report by the school that a 14-year-old student, of East Windsor, was in possession of marijuana. School officials turned over a bag of marijuana, which had been confiscated from the student, according to police.
   He was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams. After his arrest, the student was turned over to parents pending court action.

   According to police, a theft occurred at Walmart between 4 a.m. on Feb. 14 and 2:50 a.m. on Feb. 23. Walmart personnel reported that approximately 60 used car batteries had been stolen from a secured enclosure attached to the building.
   The total value of the batteries was approximately $600.
   Police said the incident is under investigation.

   Narendra Amin, 48, of Roselle Park, New Jersey, was charged with driving while intoxicated on Route 130 at 10:32 p.m. Feb. 24.
   Police said an officer responded to the area of Route 130, near Hickory Corner Road, for a report of a possibly impaired driver operating a 1997 Nissan. The vehicle was located and the officer observed the vehicle being operated erratically. After the vehicle was stopped, police said and the driver was found to have difficulty keeping his balance. He was given field sobriety tests and consequently arrested for DWI.
   Mr. Amin, in addition to driving while intoxicated, was charged with failure to maintain lane, reckless driving and careless driving. He was later released pending court action.

   Dashawn Bogle, 24, of Yonkers, New York, was charged with operating motor vehicle on wrong side of highway 4:16 a.m. Feb. 26 on Route 33, police said.
   An officer observed a gray Acura traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Route 33 near Lake Drive, according to police.
   The vehicle was stopped and the officer detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver, police said. Mr. Bogle was given field sobriety tests and as he was exiting the vehicle, the officer observed loose marijuana inside the vehicle, police said. Further investigation revealed that the driver was in possession of a marijuana pipe and a can containing marijuana.
   He was also charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating motor vehicle on wrong side of highway and drugs in motor vehicle.
   After his arrest, Mr. Bogle was later released pending court action.

   Chelsea Harrison, 20, of Windsor Commons, was charged with obstructing justice 12:52 p.m. Feb. 26 at the East Windsor Village on Route 571, police said.
   An officer responded to the shopping center, near the AT&T Store, for a report of a disturbance. Police said the officer observed a woman yelling at people in the parking lot and causing a disturbance. When the officer approached the subject, Ms. Harrison began screaming at the officer and refused instructions by the officer to stop walking away, police said.
   In addition to obstructing justice, police charged Ms. Harrison with disorderly conduct. Following her arrest, Ms. Harrison was later released pending court action.
