Former NFL player to speak at Howell Parent Academy

HOWELL — Keith Elias, a former NFL player and a graduate of Princeton University, will kick off this year’s Parent Academy for the Howell K-8 School District as the event’s keynote speaker.

The district will host its annual Parent Academy under the direction of Laurie Bandlow, principal of Howell Memorial Middle School.

The ParentAcademy will be held on March 24 at Howell Middle School North, Squankum-Yellowbrook Road.

According to a press release, Elias played four years of football at Princeton and then spent six years in the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts and the New York Giants. He was a standout special teams player, earned the Giants Unsung Hero Award from the NFL Association, and was the Colts’ special teams captain.

After retiring from the NFL, Elias worked as vice president of investments for First Ivy Capital. After leaving First Ivy Capital, he became increasingly involved in getting a message out to youth, educators, and people around the world.

Elias’message is motivational and inspirational. His presentations take him from local schools to international platforms and his message goes hand in hand with the Parent Academy’s mission to enhance student success by strengthening the partnership between parents, community and educators, according to the press release.

“I have been fortunate to share with people all over the world. From schools in America and Australia, to Katrina relief in Mississippi, to tsunami stricken Thailand, to our troops stationed stateside and in Iraq, wherever there is a need, I’ve gone, and will continue to go. I strive to no longer live for myself, but to serve others, and to bring a message of hope into the world,” Elias said in a statement.

Parents will be given the opportunity to attend workshops that will address their needs and concerns regarding the educational process. Parents will also have the chance to listen to Elias and his positive position and motivational voice on life choices.
