Prom dresses being made available

FREEHOLDTOWNSHIP— Promis one of the most memorable moments in a young girl’s life. The Freehold Township High School chapter of Becca’s Closet wants to make this prom even more special by making more than 150 gowns available for girls in need.

FTHS is one of only a few schools in New Jersey to host a chapter of Becca’s Closet.

Becca’s Closet is a national nonprofit charitable organization that provides prom attire, free of charge, to girls who otherwise could not afford to attend their prom. More than 20 FTHS students are actively involved in maintaining Becca’s Closet by contacting resources for donations of dresses, dry cleaning and fundraising, according to a press release.

“Ourmain goal is to put a smile on a girl’s face when she walks out with her prom dress on,” said fashion design teacher and Becca’s Closet adviser Amy Lewin-Epstein.

All garments are new or gently used and have been donated by stores and/or members of the community. Those interested in donating or receiving a dress can contact Becca’s Closet by emailing [email protected] or [email protected], or by calling Lewin-Epstein at 732-431-8460, ext. 3105, to make a confidential appointment.

The FTHS Becca’s Closet is available to anyone outside of the Freehold Regional High School District area with a school identification card. No financial evidence is required.
