West Windsor, N.J. – The Mercer County Community College Marketing and Communications Department, under the direction of Lynn Holl, is the recipient of a 2011 Paragon Gold Award from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) for the 2011-2013 College Catalog, which was published last summer.
The NCMPR competition recognizes outstanding achievement in communications at community and technical colleges and is the only national competition of its kind that exclusively honors excellence among marketing professionals at two-year colleges. Winners of this year’s competition were announced at the 2012 national conference held in San Francisco in March.
Mercer’s award-winning catalog uses two colors throughout and an eye-catching four-color cover. The design element that makes the publication so distinctive is the creation of 59 unique academic program icons similar in appearance to those used for cell phone apps. Each program’s icon is represented on the front cover, as well as at the top of the program’s description page. In addition to Holl, design team members included Francis Paixao, Edyta Kuciapa, Brad Kent and Lori Diecidue.
According to Holl, this is the first national gold award for the department in many years. She notes that the department has won numerous awards from the Region 1 competition of the National Association of Marketing and Public Relations. "We only occasionally submit work to this prestigious national competition. We knew this catalog would be a contender. I am very proud of my team," Holl said.
As one of the largest affiliates of the American Association of Community Colleges, NCMPR has more than 1,500 members from nearly 600 colleges across the United States, Canada and other countries.
