Pennington parade kudos

Michelle Needham,
chairwoman,
Pennington Parks
and Recreation Commission
The Pennington Day Memorial Parade made its way down Main Street again this year as neighbors, friends and families lined the streets to honor our nation’s fallen heroes. The parade would not be possible if it weren’t for the many volunteers and borough employees who join together each year to make it a memorable day for all. With that said, we would like to thank the following individuals and organizations for their time and commitment to this year’s parade.
First and foremost to our Valley veterans, along with Hopewell Valley American Legion Post 339 and the Hopewell Fire Department. They performed a 21-gun salute at our town monuments early in the day. Thanks to the John T. Dempster Jr., Division US Naval Sea Cadets Corps, for their color guard and participation in the laying of the wreath ceremony. Special thanks to the mayor, past and present elected officials, Bill Meytrott and the entire Police Department, the Public Works Department, and the Borough Administrative Office.
.We are grateful to the following local businesses and community members who support the parade each year: The Pennington Market, Wayne Tuck of Mid State Equipment Company for the use of the gator, Chip Grundy for the use of his golf cart, The Pennington School for the use of its grounds, Dahlia’s Floral Concepts for the memorial wreath, Rita’s Water Ice, Hopewell Valley Regional Board of Education, and coverage by the Hopewell Valley News. Also thanks go out to the Dadz, a Pennington-based band that provided us with an evening concert at Howe Commons.
Thanks to our volunteers: Guss Rossi, who transported the veterans; members of the Hopewell Valley Central High School Automotive Club for judging the antique car competition; Toll Gate Grammar School teachers Meg Caufield, Debbie Schlette and Georginne Johnson for judging the “Kids on Bikes” competition; Jason Holley, bugler who performed Taps in the parade; Boy Scout Troop 44 and the Hopewell Valley Central High School Marching Band. Congratulations to Molly Rhoads, our winner of the theme contest
A special thanks to the Pennington Parks & Recreation Commission for their time and effort in all the preparation leading up to the day of the parade. They are Brett Margulis, Kristin Tunkel, David Clingman, Lou Beyrouty and Shannon Cirullo.
If I have forgotten anyone I apologize and thank you in advance for your assistance in making this year’s parade another successful and enjoyable day for all.
