RBR athletes, programs receive county AD’s sportsmanship award

‘S portsmanship means that regardless of the score, you give 100 percent of your effort,” states Red Bank Regional (RBR) senior Kerry Lang, Little Silver, who, along with RBR senior Patrick Quinn, Shrewsbury, were awarded theMonmouth County Director of Athletics’ (MCDA) Sportsmanship award given to a female and male athlete at each high school. However, what makes Kerry’s statement so important is that its spirit was practiced and then recognized by all athletic directors in Monmouth County, who this year voted RBR the coveted Good Sportsmanship Award. This is the first time RBR has been so honored since 2002.

“We are delighted to once again receive this award, which reflects so positively on the character and comportment of our student athletes,” said RBR athletic director Del Dal Pra in a school press release. “High school sports are about much more than winning. The most valuable lessons learned include playing as a cohesive team and respecting your opponents, thus setting an example for everyone.” Kerry Lang will be attending

Trinity College in Connecticut next year, where she will be playing soccer. She also played girls basketball at RBR. Patrick Quinn will attend SUNY Cortland in New York and hopes to play lacrosse. He, too, was a twosport student athlete and played football for RBR.
