Sarah Donofrio of the North Brunswick Rapids competes in the New Jersey Swimming and Diving Conference C League Championships that were held July 28 at North Brunswick Township High School. The Rapids won the team championship. SCOTT FRIEDMAN The North Brunswick Rapids slipped past the Somerset Hills Swim Club to capture the New Jersey Swimming and Diving Conference C League Championship on July 28.
In the 64-event competition, the Rapids scored 387.5 points, while Somerset was close behind with 351. The Rapids hosted the meet at North Brunswick High School.
There were 11 teams from Central Jersey contesting the C League meet.
Collecting division championships for the Rapids were:
Nicole DeMato (girls 11-12) in the 100-yard individual medley (1:14.59) and 50-yard breaststroke (39.15).
Oliver Li (boys 8U) in the 25-yard freestyle (15.43) and 25-yard breaststroke (21.58).
Rachel Carrion (girls 11-12) in the 50-yard freestyle (29.79).
Melanie Fosko, (boys 13-18) in the 200-yard individual medley (2:26.81). Michael Stanaway (boys 11- 12) in the 50-yard freestyle (28.41) and 50-yard butterfly (30.52).
Jonathan Leonardo (boys 15- 18) in the 100-yard freestyle (50:88), 100-yard breaststroke (23.10) and 100-yard butterfly (1:00.11).
Matthew Lu (boys 15-18) in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.39).
Chelsea Li (girls 11-12) in the 50-yard backstroke (34.57).
John Liu (boys 11-12) in the 50-yard backstroke (38.70).
Joey Gasten (boys 15-18) in the 100-yard backstroke (1:07.39).
The boys 8U A team (Christopher Stanaway, Jay Creegan, Oliver Li and Jack Parilla) won the 100-yard freestyle relay championship in 1:23.61. The 13-18 A 200- yard freestyle relay team (Sam Liu, Adam Luk, Gasten and Leonardo) won with a time of 1:39.31.
