Edwin Bernard Fischer

Mr. Fischer, 91, of Jackson, died Aug. 12, 2012, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Prior to retiring, he was a self-employed contractor with Fischer & Son, East Brunswick. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II as a military policeman and earning the European-African-Middle Eastern Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Fischer was predeceased by a son, Russell Fischer; and two brothers, Albert Fischer and William Fischer. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Lilja; two sons, Edward Ostrowski of Helmetta, and Gregory Fischer of Franklin Park; a daughter, L. Cora Scoles of Jackson; a sister, Wilhelmena Crippen of Fresno, Calif.; two brothers, Leroy Fischer of California, and Bernard Fischer of Whiting; eight grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren. A funeral service was held at the George S. Hassler Funeral Home, Jackson, followed by interment in the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown section of North Hanover.
