WEST WINDSOR: Mayor puts out message to residents

A message from Mayor Hsueh to West Windsor Residents –
The Township is continuing to monitor the efforts of the power companies and remains in daily communications with them. Restoration of power has occurred in several sections of our community. JCP&L estimates that power should be restored to their remaining customers November 4th or 5th. Our Public Works Department is working hard to collect trees and brush from the curbs as quickly as they can. Developments and streets are beginning to look more normal. The Police, Emergency Services, and Public Works personnel remain available to assist residents still impacted by the storm. The Township’s Emergency Management Team is monitoring the situation throughout the weekend and responding to the evolving needs of the community. Township staff are volunteering at the Reception Centers at the Senior Center and High School for the comfort of our residents. Because of the storm, the Township has relocated polling districts 4, 9, 12, 13 and 16 for the November 6th general election. Please look at our website for specifics. The following present today’s information for West Windsor Residents.
West Windsor Activities – November 4, 2012
Each day at noon, information will be updated regarding the Senior Center hours and the shower facilities.
RECEPTION CENTER
The Senior Center is opened today for 24 hours for a reception and warming center. Residents may charge electronics, utilize microwaves to heat food or beverages brought from home and relax in a warm, friendly environment. Please bring your own paper plates, utensils, and electrical charging strips. No pets please at the warming center.
MEDICAL CONCERNS
Residents requesting assistance with charging medical devices or ice for medical needs should call our Health Department at (609) 936 -8400 or (609) 799 -9068 after hours.
WELL WATER
Residents on well water can come to the Senior Center with pails/containers and get 5 gallons of potable water, and if needed, 5 gallons of garden hose water for use for flushing their toilets.
SHOWER FACILITY
Showers are available at the Lawrenceville Gold’s Gym for residents without power. Non-members who are without electricity in the home are welcome to shower and relax in the lounge. Gold’s Gym is located at 4152 Quakerbridge Road and is open 5 AM through 11 PM. Due to low usage of the WWPHS shower facility, the center is now closed.
SHELTER NEEDS
We are asking residents to shelter at home. If a community shelter is absolutely necessary, we have arranged for one to be available for residents. Please call the Senior Center for more information at (609) 799 -9068
