Mrs. Schmitz, 86, of Howell, died Oct. 23, 2012, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Prior to retiring, she was the owner and operator of Colonial Acres, a residential health care facility in Millstone Township, for 27 years. She was predeceased by her husband, George Schmitz in 1995; and a brother, Alfred Yarnall. Surviving are two sons, Rick Schmitz and his wife, Brenda, and Dennis Schmitz; two daughters, Betty Cartmill and her husband, Robert, and Donna Thompson; a brother, Ronald Yarnall; ten grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at the Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, followed by interment at the Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold. Memorial donations may be made to CentraState Medical Center Oncology Unit, Open Door of Freehold, or the Salvation Army.
