RED BANK — Musicians on a Mission, a nonprofit comprised of local musicians and music-lovers, will celebrate its second anniversary at a gala event on Nov. 18 at The Urban Nest, formerly Chico’s House of Jazz, in Asbury Park. The event, which will run from 6 to 10 p.m., will also highlight the release of a compilation CD of 17 local singer-songwriters and musical groups who have donated their time and talent to the organization’s mission of raising awareness and funds for local charities. The musicians featured on “MOAM, The First Two Years” will perform songs from the limited-edition CD, which will be available for purchase at the gala. The evening will also feature blues musician Sandy Mack and Friends, including Matt O’Ree, Jeff Cafone, Deseree Spinks and other special guests. A light buffet will be offered with a cash bar, and dessert will be provided by Asbury’s own Confections of a Rock Star bakery. Admission of $10 at the door includes a digital download card of the CD.
Musicians on a Mission, based in Red Bank, creates opportunities for local musicians to make a difference through their music by planning charitable events showcasing Jersey Shore performers. Proceeds of the events are donated to small local charities. During its first two years, Musicians on a Mission donated more than $7,000 and 1,000 pounds of food to charitable organizations in Monmouth County.
All profits from the CD will be donated to Monmouth County SPCA in memory of Brian Mowery, a local musician who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in September.
