Rita Nelson

Mrs. Nelson, 84, of Manchester, formerly of Jackson, died Oct. 18, 2012, at Van Dyke Hospice in Community Medical Center, Toms River. She graduated from Mt. St. Ursula Academy, Bronx, N.Y., where she was awarded the Latin and algebra medals. Prior to retiring, Mrs. Nelson was employed for 17 years as the head teller for the First National Bank of Toms River. She was predeceased by her husband, Clifton B. Nelson, in 1990. Surviving are a daughter and sonin law, Renee and Frank Odenheimer, of Bayville; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Dorothy Nelson, of Edison; a daughter and sonin law, Marianne and Frank Johnson Jr., of Toms River; a daughter and son-in-law, Gail Nelson and David Bona, of Berkeley Heights; two sisters, Joan Barth, of New York City, and Lorraine Carstairs, of Cranford; a brother, William Mc- Namara, of Lyons; 11 grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George and Geraldine Nelson. A funeral liturgy was held at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, Jackson, followed by interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lakewood. Arrangements were by the George S. Hassler Funeral Home, Jackson.
