Manasquan Savings Bank, with eight offices in Monmouth and Ocean counties, has announced the funding of the construction of two low-income homes through a partnership with Coastal Habitat for Humanity and the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York. The project is part of the Asbury Park Westside Redevelopment project. It is the second project for Manasquan this year. In March, Coastal Habitat for Humanity dedicated a home on Borden Avenue thanks to construction financing through Manasquan Savings Bank.

Affiliated Foot & Ankle Center and Young’s Appliance are accepting donations for those affected by Sandy. Needed are blankets, socks, underwear, clothing, pajamas, diapers, formula, toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash, soap, toilet paper, nonperishable food items, feminine hygiene products, bottled water, empty cardboard boxes and medical supplies (aspirin, ibuprofen, bandages, etc.). Items may be brought to Affiliated Foot & Ankle Center, 4645 Route 9 north, Howell, or to Young’s Appliance, 4658 Route 9 south, Howell. Two local merchants have teamed up to sponsor a program to recycle electronics and help local students at the same time.

Cartridge World and scrap metal service Dr. Copper, both members of the Howell Chamber of Commerce, will accept electronic devices that are no longer wanted or working and recycle them, and donate the proceeds directly to the Howell Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation.

All old electronics (cell phones, DVDs, printers, copiers, PCs, laptops, etc.) can be dropped of at Dr. Copper, 1755 Route 9 north, Howell, or at Cartridge World of Freehold, 64 Village Center Drive, in the Raintree shopping center, Freehold Township. Those needing help removing electronics from their cars should call ahead to make arrangements.

This will be a year-round program that is free and open to all local residents and business owners.

The Howell Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that is not funded by the Chamber of Commerce and relies solely on donations and fundraising for its support. The foundation provides scholarships to help local high school graduates realize their dream of a college education.
