In response to the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, the Jewish Federation of Greater Middlesex County, a nonprofit relief organization based in South River, recently opened its office at 230 Old Bridge Turnpike to the community, offering a place to go, weekdays 9 a.m.-5 p.m., to those in need of warmth, power or Internet services.
The federation also is collecting and distributing donated funds and basic living supplies to individuals in need. County residents requiring assistance, or knowing anyone who needs help, should call 732-588-1800 or email [email protected].
To address evolving community needs as a result of the hurricane, the federation has changed its already scheduled Nov. 18 Community Action Day into a program designed to inform and assist the community’s ongoing recovery and rebuilding efforts. In addition, the panel’s annual Super Sunday phone-a-thon has been rescheduled to Jan. 13, 2013.
Individuals in need are encouraged to contact the federation so it can provide assistance or connect them with agencies offering help.
