Guests to tour site of battle

On Jan. 1, the Princeton Battlefield Society will be sponsoring a real-time tour of the Battle of Princeton, which occurred on Jan. 3, 1777.

Attendees will join William P. Tatum III, society trustee and noted British Army historian, to trace the steps of American and British units at the same time of day as the original battle.

According to a press release, attendees will come away with a better understanding of the rigors of 18th-century combat and a deeper appreciation of the engagement at Princeton.

There is no charge for this tour, though donations to the park are appreciated (suggested donation of $5 per person). Attendees should wear warm clothes and stout shoes or boots. The tour will be walking intensive over variable ground.

Contact Will Tatum at princetonbattlefieldtours@gmail.com with any questions and to RSVP for the tour. The tour will begin at 7 a.m. and will conclude at about 9:30 a.m. at Princeton Battlefield State Park, 500 Mercer Road, Princeton.
