MANVILLE: Seniors can enjoy a month full of activities

   Manville Senior Citizen Center in Fire Company No. 1 at 20 South Third Ave. has listed its full slate of activities for the month of March.
   A suggested lunch donation of $1.50 is recommended for individuals age 60 and older. The cost of lunch for those younger than age 60 is $5.35. Call 908-369-8700 before 10:30 a.m. the day before to make a lunch reservation.
   Transportation is available for those who do not drive.
   Manville center activities:
  Fri., March 1 — Operation Shoebox service project with Earl Wilson and Rod Hirsch.
   Mon., March 4 —State Health Insurance Program (SHIP), 10 a.m. (A counselor will be available to provide free help to New Jersey beneficiaries who have problems with, or questions about their health insurance. SHIP is a statewide program sponsored by the state Department of Health and Senior Services. Call Lisa Carra at (908) 526-0175 to make an appointment.)
   Tues., March 5 —Visit to the Hillsborough Senior Center for the Pettet Sisters’ performance, 10:45 a.m. (Get ready for this lively variety show by Kristen and Ashley Pettet. Kristen can be seen singing and dancing in Woody Allen’s movie “Everyone Says I Love You” with Drew Barrymore & Goldie Hawn. Ashley is one of the Broadway Kids, and her theatre credits include “The Sound of Music” National Tour with Marie Osmond, “Annie” National Tour and Annie Warbucks on Broadway.)
   Thurs., March 7 —Dance performance by the Bridgewater Roxies.
   Fri., March 8 —Remembering Our Soldiers Project “Letters 4 Soldiers.”
   Mon., March 11 —”Standing Tall Against Falls” by Cynthia Kusorgbor, of the Somerset County Department of Health. She will discuss the best methods of preventing falls and enhance balance while doing everyday tasks.
   Tues., March 12 —Free vision screenings by the N.J. Commission for the Blind.
   Thurs., March 14 —Saint Patrick’s Day craft.
   Fri., March 15 —Left, right, center dice game.
   Mon., March 18 —”How to Protect Yourself Against Mail Fraud” by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. Learn about mail scams targeted at seniors, including foreign lottery fraud as well as what to do if you think you have been a victim of mail fraud.
   Tues., March 19 —Tai chi demonstration by Barbara Joels.
   Thurs., March 21 —”Safety & Balance by Jeffery Sommer, Elite Advantage.
   Fri., March 22 —Saint Patrick’s Day brain teasers.
   Mon., March 25 —March birthday brain teasers.
