Blood donors needed

Due to blood shortages following recent storms, the New Jersey Blood Services, a division of New York Blood Center, will conduct blood drives in the Edison and Metuchen area.

The supply of some blood types, notably O-negative, which can be transfused into anyone in an emergency situation, is now below the minimum “safety level.”

The blood drives will take place on the following dates:

March 19, Cathedral of St. Francis, 3 Main & Elm Ave., Metuchen, 3-9 p.m.;

March 20, Middlesex County College, 2600 Woodbridge Ave., Edison, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.;

March 20, Ben Franklin School, 2485 Woodbridge Ave., Edison, 2-8 p.m.;

March 23, Metuchen Branch YMCA, 65 High Street, Metuchen, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
