The Edison Visionary Lions Club will celebrate International Women’s Day on March 16 at North Brunswick High School, Raider Road.
The symposium, named “Entrepreneurship for Women,” is open to registered participants and will start at 4 p.m. It will be followed by the New Jersey premiere of the critically acclaimed documentary “It’s a Girl” at 6:30 p.m., followed by some entertainment. Speakers include prominent entrepreneurs and policymakers.
The documentary raises questions about social practices and encourages attendees to act. In India, China and many other parts of the world, girls are killed, aborted and abandoned simply because they are female. The United Nations estimates that as many as 200 million girls are missing in the world today because of this so-called “gendercide.”
During the symposium, attendees are invited to participate in discussions regarding entrepreneurship among women.
Suggested donation for attending the event is $10. Tickets can be purchased online at www.donations.sulekha.com/donateto_ donate-to-edison-visionary-lions-club_ 1 118.
