LuLu’s Repurpose for Rescue opens May 1

It’s April. Days are longer. You are starting to feel restless. It’s time for spring-cleaning! Like most people, you’ve probably accumulated a lot of treasures through the years — things that have outgrown their purpose around your house and aren’t doing anything but taking up space and gathering dust.
Maybe you’ve searched for inspiration on websites like Pinterest or Etsy for ways to restore, reinvent or repurpose these items. Lulu’s Rescue has a solution.
On May 1, Lulu’s Rescue, a nonprofit animal rescue, will be opening Lulu’s Repurpose for Rescue in Lambertville. It is a boutique with the special mission of giving companion animals a second life.
Michele Armstrong, Lulu’s executive director, hopes to have Lulu’s Repurpose for Rescue overflowing with donated antiques, local artisans’ items, one-of-a-kind jewelry and women’s vintage and designer-name clothing. Profits from the shop will fund spay and neuter initiatives and companion animal rescue, foster and adoption placement.
”We are thrilled to be opening our first bricks and mortar presence in our community,” said Ms. Armstrong. “We’re hoping this project will give people a place to repurpose their treasures for a good cause. It will also provide a meeting place for like-minded people who want to participate in classes about the causes of and solutions to reducing the number of companion animals left homeless or killed in shelters every day across America.”
So, give new life to your memorabilia, collectibles, antiques, art, jewelry and women’s clothing by donating it to Lulu’s Repurpose for Rescue. All donors will be given a tax letter for the fair market value of the items donated.
As a volunteer-driven organization, Lulu’s also will be relying on the kindness of volunteers to help set-up and run the shop.
