SOUTH BRUNSWICK: NAACP honors local woman

   The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), Roselle Chapter, honored Ms. Pharmacist Genevieve Kumapley, for her work with families of children with autism on April 12, according to a Saint Peter’s Healthcare System press release.
   Saint Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick is a 478-bed acute-care teaching hospital sponsored by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Metuchen, according to its spokesman, Philip Hartman.
   A resident of South Brunswick, Ms. Kumapley also has a son with autism, according to Mr. Hartman.
   The oncology pharmacist works at Saint Peter’s University Hospital and received The Role Model award in recognition of Autism Awareness Month, at the Gran Centurions in Clark, the release stated.
   The Children’s Hospital at Saint Peter’s University, through its affiliation with The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, provides families with access to a full range of pediatric specialties, including pediatric cardiology, according to a press release.
   Ms. Kumapley, along with her husband Robert, are also the co-founders of the nonprofit organization, MyGoal Autism Inc. which offers support to parents of children with autism in New Jersey, the hospital said.
   MyGoal – An acronym for My Gateway to Overcoming Autism in Life, raises grants for families ensuring them with the resources needed for educating and caring for autistic children, the hospital said.
   Ms. Kumapley’s home nation of Ghana, Africa, has also seen an extension of her mission, according to the hospital.
   There, she is working to establish The Haven International Center for Special Education, which is also supported by St. Peter’s Hospital, according to the release.
