Classical voice music series to debut

FREEHOLD — The Classical Voice Company is launching a new classical vocal performance series in Freehold. The series, which will include classical vocal recitals and semi-staged operas, will have its first performance on May 19 at 4 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Main Street.

According to a press release, the monthly one-hour Appassionata Arts recitals will feature professional opera singers from New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia.

The inaugural recital will feature Freehold’s own Courteney Lynn Wilds, a professional operatic soprano. Wilds will present songs and arias by W.A. Mozart, Richard Strauss, Gabriel Fauré, Amy Beach and Richard Quilter, as well as a selection of Broadway show tunes.

Accompanying Wilds will be Daniel Ragone, an accomplished pianist and vocal coach who has worked with singers from the Metropolitan Opera and performed in all of New York City’s well-known concert halls.

Opera Drammatica, the operatic arm of the Classical Voice Company, will also feature professional singers from the tri-state area. These productions will be semi-staged versions of popular operas including “La Boheme” and “La Traviata.” Performances will begin in early 2014.

The Classical Voice Company, established in 2005, is a vocal production company that produces recitals, opera scenes and concert opera, and sponsors summer vocal programs in New York City and New Jersey.

General admission tickets for the inaugural Appassionata Arts Recital are available by calling 732-294-7983, online at www.theclassicalvoicecompany.com and at the door. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children under 12.
