Morris Avenue in Long Branch closed for repairs

LONG BRANCH – Morris Avenue in Long Branch was closed to traffic due to a water main leak on Monday morning, June 24, and was expected to remain closed for up to five days.

“Inspections revealed a water main leak caused damage to a county culvert under Morris Avenue,” said Freeholder Director Thomas A. Arnone in a press release. “To complete the repair, the roadway must be closed to all vehicle traffic.”

An emergency water main leak repair began on Monday after rush hour traffic and Morris Avenue was closed between Division Street and Broadway. The work was expected to be completed by the close of business Friday, June 28, according to the county.

The road remains  open to local traffic, but there will be no throughway in the area of the culvert. Detours are posted.
