Monroe Township High School held its annual commencement ceremony at the Sun Bank Center arena in Trenton on Tuesday.
The school honored the 424-graduating seniors during the 90-minute ceremony in front of families and friends.
”You have showed your unique talents in the academics, music, and athletic fields during your stay within this district” said Principal Robert Goodall. “Please do not be strangers to our school as you go through your college career. We want to see you and hear about how you are doing.”
Superintendent Dr. Kenneth Hamilton told the graduates that the district “hopes to produce students that will one day change the world. Remember that peaceful protest is just.”
He went on to tell students that they are graduating “in an improved job market.”
He concluded his remarks by stating that “the beautiful thing about learning is that no one can ever take it away from you.”
He also reminded the students “that there is a lesson in everything in life, including failure.”
”Students must always remember your duty to serve other people,” he said.
Haritha Reddy, the class’s salutatorian, who is bound for Temple University in the fall, cautioned her fellow students to “think twice and act once in everything that you do.”
Class Valedictorian Zachary Levine has been accepted into Princeton University.
In his speech, he reminded the students that “your parents and the faculty in the schools that you have attended have molded your educational future.”
He told students to continue to have fun in their future learning experiences.
The administration staff and Board of Education President Kathy Kolupanowich presented the students with their diplomas.
