PRINCETON: Annual waiters race to take place July 11

On Thursday, July 11, local wait staff will put their tray-balancing skills to the test at the Waiters’ Race, an event organized by the Princeton Merchants Association.

   On Thursday, July 11, local wait staff will put their tray-balancing skills to the test at the Waiters’ Race, an event organized by the Princeton Merchants Association.
   The event kicks off at 3:30pm at Princeton Shopping Center, 301 North Harrison Street. (There is no rain date for this event)
   Waiters and waitresses from Princeton restaurants will race to complete a course while balancing two full glasses, one of champagne and one of wine, PLUS two full water bottles on their trays. The competition is shaping up to be fierce.
   The restaurants participating to date include: Blue Point Grill, Main Street Bistro and Café, Yankee Doodle Tap Room, Triumph Brewing Company, Witherspoon Grill, Agricola, Mediterra and Eno Terra with more to come.
   The fastest racers – who don’t spill their teetering cargo – will take home the following:
   1st Place: $250 cash, weekend overnight stay at the Nassau Inn, bottle of Champagne, Ace Hardware Cooler, 2 x $25 Gift Cards to local restaurants, $50 Hamilton Gift Card, La Jolie Gift Card.
   2nd Place: $150 cash, bottle of Champagne, Ace Hardware Cooler, 2 x $25 Gift Cards to local restaurants.
   3rd Place: $75 Cash, bottle of Champagne, Ace Hardware Cooler, 2x $25 Gift Cards to local restaurants.
   Waiters needing to get from downtown to the Shopping Center won’t have to worry about transportation. The FreeB Shuttle will be offering a ride there and back.
   Sponsors this year include Princeton Arts Council, Princeton University Store, Joy Cards, Agricola , Ace Hardware, Triumph Brewing Co, Terra Momo, PNC Bank, Bank of Princeton, Craft Cleaners, Yankee Doodle Tap Room, McCaffrey’s, Main Street Bistro, La Jolie, Witherspoon Grill, Blue Point Grill and Road ID. Those interested in participating need to pre-register. The fee is $20. All participants will receive an Official Race Day T-Shirt and Goodie Bag.
