Despite a recent successful fundraiser, the South Brunswick Food Pantry is in need of donations, according to Director of Social Services, LouAnne Wolf.

The pantry is giving out food faster than it’s taking in, Ms. Wolf said Wednesday.
“In my 21 years working here, this has been the third time we’ve had to purchase food for the pantry,” said Ms. Wolf, “(It is) the first time we’ve ever purchased this quantity.”
The pantry is feeding a huge number of families, more than normal for this time of year, according to Ms. Wolf, with more than 150 families for each of the months of April and May.
Although the community has been gracious with their donations, including the successful fundraiser Stop Aaron from Jumping, the pantry is still low by half of its normal level due to the large number of families it’s providing for, Ms. Wolf said.
Aaron Rosloff, 92, an active member of the community, had always wanted to skydive and used that unique feat to raise funds for the pantry, according to Ms. Wolf.
Two years ago, on his birthday, in honor of fulfilling his wish, he raised and donated $3,000 to the pantry, Ms. Wolf said.
Mr. Rosloff then made his second jump on his 91st birthday last year and donated another $3,600 and in doing so, was injured with a broken ankle, said Ms. Wolf.
This prompted Mr. Rosloff’s temple, Congregation B’Nai Tikvah to organize a fundraiser in his name, asking that he keep from jumping this year on his 92 birthday, July 3rd, according to Ms. Wolf.
Ms. Wolf said, Mr. Rosloff agreed to the terms as long as the donations were at least equal, or more than, $3,600.
A combination of donations totaling $4,865 kept Aaron from jumping this year, said Ms. Wolf.
Mr. Rosloff also donated $1,000 to the pantry, said Ms. Wolf.
According to Ms. Wolf, the need is never ending and the pantry is asking for the following donations: canned meats – chicken, beef, chili, stew, juice, boxed milk, canned green vegetables, canned tomatoes, canned corn, canned fruit, crackers, granola bars, and personal supplies – soap, deodorant, and toothpaste.
Donations are accepted at the municipal building on Route 522 during normal business hours.
