NEW HOPE: Section of Route 202 South in Solebury to close July 8

The lane closure and detour is expected to go into effect around 7 a.m. July 8, and the restrictions are scheduled to remain in place until the close of the business day on July 19

A nearly 2,400-foot section of Route 202 southbound in Solebury Township. will be barricaded to traffic for a minimum of 12 days beginning July 8, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission announced Wednesday.

The closure is necessary to allow work crews to remove and replace the southbound travel lane pavement and right shoulder of Route 202 between River Road (Route 32) and Lower
York Road just outside New Hope. The affected highway segment is west of the
Commission’s New Hope-Lambertville (Route 202) Toll Bridge and the closure will affect
motorists heading from New Jersey to Pennsylvania and to area destinations such as
Doylestown,  and Peddlers Village in Lahaska.
.
A detour will be put into effect to guide Route 202 southbound traffic off the highway at the River Road (Route 32) exit. Motorists would then follow Route 32 south beneath Route 202 to Lower York Road, which leads back to Route 202.

The lane closure and detour is expected to go into effect around 7 a.m. July 8, and
the restrictions are scheduled to remain in place until the close of the business day on July 19.

The recent prevailing weather pattern of frequent rain events could potentially affect this
schedule, however. Construction-project-related travel restrictions are subject to change due to weather, traffic conditions and emergencies.

Motorists on Route 202 should allow extra time to travel this highway segment during the closure period. Some traffic congestion is possible during peak morning and evening commuter travel periods.

Route 202 northbound will remain open with a single travel lane through the affected area during this timeframe. Motorists on both directions of Route 202 are advised to reduce their speed and use caution when travelling through active work zones.

The closure of the 2,400-foot section of Route 202 south is expected to be the only highway detour that will be needed to carry out a multi-faceted repaving and repair project the Commission currently carrying out on the approach roadways, overpasses and ramps that carry traffic to and from the agency’s New Hope-Lambertville (Route 202) Toll Bridge. A variety of exit and entry ramp closures and accompanying detours previously have been employed for the project and more will take place in ensuing weeks. The project involves work on both sides of the toll bridge.

Completion is expected to be achieved in the late fall.
