PRINCETON: Goerner joins conservation group board

Former Princeton Township mayor and Township Committee member Chad Goerner has joined the board of trustees of New Jersey Conservation Foundation.

Former Princeton Township mayor and Township Committee member Chad Goerner has joined the board of trustees of New Jersey Conservation Foundation.
”From growing up on a small farm in Sussex County to being mayor of Princeton Township and advocating for open space preservation, the issues of farmland and open space preservation have always been important to me,” said Mr. Goerner.
A vice president and institutional consultant with the UBS Institutional Consulting Group, Mr. Goerner was welcomed at his first New Jersey Conservation Foundation board meeting on June 19.
”We are thrilled to have Chad join our board,” said L. Keith Reed, president of the board. “He brings extensive experience in dealing with issues at the municipal level, an intimate knowledge of life in rural New Jersey, and a strong financial background, all of which will provide valuable insight to our deliberations at the committee and board level.”
Mr. Goerner was elected to the Princeton Township Committee in 2006 and served two three-year terms. He became deputy mayor in 2009 and 2010, and served as mayor in 2011 and 2012, leading the town through its consolidation with Princeton Borough.
His leadership on the environment resulted in the creation of the Princeton Ridge Preserve — a 66-acre collaboration of open space preservation that included a 14-acre tract preserved with the help of New Jersey Conservation Foundation. His tenure as mayor also resulted in Princeton Township receiving its sustainable certification from Sustainable Jersey.
Goerner received his B.A. degree from The George Washington University. He has obtained the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation from the CFP Board, in addition to the Certified Investment Management (CIMA) designation in conjunction with IMCA and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
He manages a consulting practice at the UBS Institutional Consulting Group, consulting to corporate clients, family offices, endowments and foundations.
New Jersey Conservation Foundation is a private nonprofit that preserves land and natural resources throughout New Jersey.
