Swing band plays in concert in park
   Thurs., July 18 — The Summer Swing Orchestra plays from 7-8:30 p.m. in the free concert series at Ann Van Middlesworth Park. Turn off Amwell Road at Pleasant View Road (one-half mile west of high school.) Sponsored by the Hillsborough Education Foundation, in conjunction with township Parks and Recreation Department. GOP club organizes golf outing, dinner
   Fri., July 19 — Hillsborough GOP Club golf outing at Royce Brook Golf Club. 11:30 a.m. registration and lunch and 1 p.m. shotgun start. Dinner in the tent with prizes and awards. Contact Tod Mershon at 908-295-1368 for information and pricing.
   Car wash benefits school’s band groups
   Sat., July 20 — Support the Hillsborough High School Marching Band and Color Guard by having your car washed, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Hillsborough Elementary School, Amwell Road at Rout 206. Cars $5 and vans $7.
Players host reading of war serio-comedy
   Sat., July 20 — “The Tomb,” a one-act serio-comedy, will be performed for mature audiences only as a staged reading by Roy Barry. at 7:30 p.m. at the Somerset Valley Playhouse, 689 Amwell Road, Neshanic. Free admission, with donations accepted. Four soldiers from wars in different eras mysteriously appear at the Tomb of the Unknown in Virginia.
RVCC officials to answer questions
   Thurs., Aug. 1 — Raritan Valley Community College will host an information session for prospective students, 5-7 p.m., in the township library on South Branch Road.
   Representatives will provide information about the 90 associate degree and certificate programs. , as well as the admissions and enrollment processes, paying for college, and transfer and career opportunities.

   RVCC’s main campus is at 118 Lamington Road, Branchburg Township. RVCC @ Bridgewater, located at 14 Vogt Drive, offers technical and trade courses.
Politics Book Club to discuss gun issues
   Thurs., Aug. 1 — The Politics Book Club, sponsored by the Hillsborough Democratic Alliance, continues from 7-9 p.m., with “The Last Gun — How Changes in the Gun Industry are Killing Americans and What It Will Take to Stop It” by Tom Diaz. Fishing derby, campout scheduled
   Fri., Aug. 2 — The township’s annual family campout and fishing derby will be held at Ann Van Middlesworth Park beginning at 5 p.m. for the fishing derby and 6 p.m. for the dinner at the campout. The night includes fishing, games, prizes and live music and is open to all township residents who’ve registered by July 30.
Job support group to hear search stories
   Wed., Aug. 7 — Jewish Family Service’s next support group free session for active job seekers who are unemployed, underemployed or seeking a career change, 7-9 p.m. at 150-A West High Street, Somerville.

Rotary Fair slates annual carnival days
   Aug. 13-18 — Hillsborough Rotary Fair. Rides, raffles, games, entertainment, vendors in field next to Lowe’s in Hillsborough Promenade off Route 206 at Triangle Road. Wristband nights on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Autism access Saturday afternoon time to be announced.
Auxiliary sponsors outside flea markets
   Sat., Aug. 17 — Flea markets behind the Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Co. No. 2 at 375 Route 206 and Hamilton Road starts at 9 a.m. Market outside spaces are $15 each.    Community theater — Somerset Valley Players present “The Frog Prince” at their theater at 689 Amwell Road (Route 514) on weekends from July 19 to Aug. 4.    Farmers’ market — The Northeast Organic Farming Association of New Jersey holds a weekly market at Duke Farms at 1112 Duke’s Parkway West Farm Stand will be open Saturdays and Sundays from noon-4 p.m.
   Alzheimer’s support group — The Alzheimer’s Association has a support group in Hillsborough. Meetings are the second Wednesday of each month at 1 p.m. in the sunroom at Emeritus Senior Living, 60 Auten Road. Call 431-1300.
