CRANBURY: Letters to the Editor

Sierra Club endorses Sen. Linda Greenstein

By Bonnie Tilley, Volunteer Population Issues Coordinator, New Jersey Chapter Sierra
To the editor:
The voters of New Jersey’s 14th Legislative District, which includes Cranbury, are fortunate to be represented by Senator Linda Greenstein. Senator Greenstein has watched out for the interests of the communities she represents, and in particular, for women and for the environment.
That is why it was of interest to read in The Cranbury Press (“Inverso, Greenstein campaign over lunch” 10/3/2013) that Peter Inverso proposes to “move our state forward.” If elected, Mr. Inverso would join the ranks of other Republicans in the Senate who have worked to move our state in the exact opposite direction — backward. They have worked against the very environmental issues that Senator Greenstein has championed such as keeping our water safe to drink, our air safe to breath, open space, and specifically playgrounds safe from toxic pollutants.
The Sierra Club has strong vetting policies when choosing candidates who receive endorsement. There are many reasons why Senator Linda Greenstein has been endorsed by the Sierra Club, among them that she has been a champion for the rights of women to access PAP smears, breast exams, contraceptives and other preventive health care services.
Healthy women mean healthy families, healthy communities, and a healthier environment. Mr. Inverso has never received Sierra Club endorsement.
I urge Robbinsville voters to cast their ballot for Senator Linda Greenstein.
