HAMILTON: Animal control hours extended

The township has announced animal control field coverage will be expanded by 28 hours a week.

HAMILTON — The township has announced animal control field coverage will be expanded by 28 hours a week.
According to a township release, the expansion is due to new part-time animal control officers being funding in the 2013 municipal budget.
The new part-time positions and scheduling will help extend regular animal control field coverage to 7:30 p.m. on weekdays and to 8:30 p.m. during summer months, as well as allow for four hours of additional field coverage on Saturdays and Sundays.
Currently, regularly scheduled animal control field coverage ends at 3:30 p.m. on weekdays, unless specific emergency animal control issues require an after-hour response.
The new schedule will go into effect within the coming weeks.
Animal Shelter hours will remain the same at Mondays to Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
As a reminder, Hamilton residents can request after-hour or weekend assistance for emergency animal control issues by calling 609-581-4000.
Such emergency issues would include reports of animal cruelty, injured or sick animals (domestic or wild), animal attacks and possible instance of rabid animals that could pose a threat to residents.
