   Burlington County Sheriff Jean Stanfield announced the arrest of Leslie Small, 39, of Burlington City, who was wanted for failure to pay child support in arrears for $1,681, as part of the national campaign known as National Family Violence Apprehension Detail.
   The cooperative effort took place Oct. 16 between agencies both within and outside of the county.
   Mr. Small was among a half dozen arrested who were released after paying bail or child support arrears.
   ”Family and domestic violence is a real issue that many people do not talk about or try to hide,” Sheriff Stanfield said. Programs like this one help make the public aware of the issue and the need for individuals to be held accountable.”
   The 11th annual National Family Violence Apprehension Detail includes approximately 200 county sheriff’s offices, police departments, probation departments and community agencies from over 20 states. All agencies served outstanding arrest warrants with charges ranging from failure to pay child support to murder. For the past several years, this event has been instrumentalin apprehending family-violence offenders, according to a county release.
   The Burlington County Sheriff’s Department attempted to serve warrants on 30 individuals resulting in the arrest of 11 people with a total of 15 outstanding warrants. Some of the arrested individuals had numerous warrants for their arrest.
   ”Enforcing child support orders sends a clear message that the needs of our children must be met. This is a critical issue which, affects all taxpayers,” she added. “When child support goes unpaid, the cost of care often falls on State and County social service and other agencies.”
