HAMILTON: Two named to hospital board

R. Barbara Gitenstein, president of The College of New Jersey, and Eileen Martinson, the CEO of Sparta Systems, have been appointed to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton’s board of directors.

HAMILTON — R. Barbara Gitenstein, president of The College of New Jersey, and Eileen Martinson, the CEO of Sparta Systems, have been appointed to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton’s Board of Directors, according to a hospital release.
   Ms. Gitenstein, of Pennington, has been president of TCNJ since 1999, and has more than 30 years of experience as a college professor and administrator. A noted author and scholar, she is an expert on Jewish and American literature.
   Ms. Gitenstein, the first woman to lead TCNJ in its 157-year history, has also been recognized by numerous organizations for her contributions to the advancement of women in management and leadership roles.
   Under her leadership TCNJ has been among the top-ranked public institutions in the nation. In its latest rankings, U.S. News and World Report listed TCNJ as the number one public and fifth overall school in the standings among both public and private institutions in the best regional universities category for the northeast.
   Ms. Martinson is a highly accomplished software industry executive with more than two decades of leadership experience. She leads Sparta Systems, a company that provides enterprise quality management software to the life sciences, consumer products and electronics sectors.
   Ms. Martinson’s philanthropy activities include the Martinson Family Foundation, which funds and guides more than 25 programs at major universities to advance K-12 science, technology, engineering and mathematics instruction. She also supports USO Wounded Warriors, which provides non-medical care and family assistance to severely injured service members.
   Both join a board of distinguished community members, chaired by J. Lynne Cannon, CEO of Princeton Management Development Institute, Inc.
