To the editor:
I have spoken to many of my neighbors in District 16 about S-1921, the bill to ban gestation crates. Every single one has voiced full support of this commonsense animal protection law.
They are shocked to hear that the meat industry confines mother pigs in gestation crates metal cages so small the pigs can’t turn around despite the availability of proven, economical, humane alternatives.
I hope that Senator Kip Bateman listens to the will of his constituents and maintains his compassionate position in support of S-1921.
