EAST WINDSOR — Two firefighters were injured in an early morning crash while responding to a call.
The accident happened at 7:06 a.m. Nov. 3 on Route 130 south near the intersection of Conover Road, according to Lt. James Geary of the East Windsor Police Department.
”Upon police arrival it was determined that a vehicle had struck a fire truck that was responding to an emergency call for service,” said Lt. Geary.
Brandon King, 30, of East Windsor was driving the white 2002 Hyundai SUV that struck the East Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 Squirt 42 truck as it began making a left turn onto Conover Road off of Route 130 south, according to police.
”Squirt 42 had its emergency lights activated at the time of the incident,” Lt. Geary said. “Both vehicles were traveling south on Route 130 at the time of the incident.”
There were no injuries initially reported at the scene of the incident.
Later on, however, two firefighters who were passengers in the fire truck reported minor injuries and were transported to the University Medical Center at Princeton at Plainsboro for evaluation, according to police.
East Windsor Volunteer Rescue Squad District 1 responded to the scene to assist with the accident.
Mr. King was issued a summons for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, police said.
