Workshop for board members, directors set

The Middlesex County Cultural & Heritage Commission will hold a bestpractices workshop with a nonprofit board and governance coach, Brian Crockett.

The workshop will be presented in collaboration with the New Jersey Historical Commission and New Jersey Historic Trust from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 4 in Crabiel Hall, Middlesex County College, 2600 Woodbridge Ave., Edison.

The meeting is designed for board members and directors in an effort to learn about enhancing basic governance skills and to become familiar with several assessment and standards programs.

The three-part workshop will cover board roles and responsibilities, and outline the Standards and Excellence Program, a voluntary assessment program for small and mid-sized organizations developed by the American Association for State and Local History. The workshop will provide an opportunity for peers to share and learn from each other in an open discussion with Crockett.

The fee is $15. Registration is required. For information and to register, call 732-745-4489.
