MONTGOMERY — A car was knocked off a lift in the service bay of an auto dealership on Route 206, injuring one technician, at 10:07 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30.
Montgomery Township police responded to the Honda of Princeton car dealership on a report of a vehicle that had fallen off of a lift in the service department and struck a person. Upon arrival Officer Sean Devlin saw that two motor vehicles had been involved in a collision inside the service bay area. One of the vehicles fell off the lift, striking a mechanic in the legs.
The crash occurred when Jacob A. Riordan, 18, of Hillsborough, tried to move a 2006 Honda Accord after completing brake maintenance on the vehicle. Police said Mr. Riordan backed into a 2013 Honda CRV that was being serviced in the bay directly behind him.
The force of the crash pushed the CRV off the lift and into Jerry G. Nealis Jr., 40, of Manville, who was servicing the vehicle. Mr. Nealis complained of pain to both knees from where the front of the Honda CRV hit him.
Montgomery EMS responded to the scene and took Mr. Nealis to Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. Mr. Riordan received a motor vehicle summons for careless driving.
